Kenya eTA information

Do you need a Kenya eTA for a transit or layover?

The official tourism application distinguishes travellers who remain within the airport or ship without crossing immigration. Your route, baggage and airport arrangements determine whether you can actually remain airside.

Start with the border question

If you must pass immigration to collect baggage, change airport, stay landside or enter Kenya, do not treat the journey as a simple airside transit. Check the current official rule for your nationality and itinerary.

Confirm the practical connection

Ask the airline whether bags are checked through and whether the connection stays inside the international transit area. An itinerary alone may not show every operational requirement.

Use the official route for the decision

KenyaEntry's current paid flow is Tourism / adult / one traveller. It does not determine transit eligibility, issue an eTA or override an airline or immigration instruction.
